feet pounding, heartbeat increases. breathing steady, legs swinging. wind blowing. cars speeding by, tires throwing gravel. owl city playing in my head. visions of you passing my eyes, one after another. clouds pass overhead as the miles pass underfoot. pausing at the pasture, i see my reflection in the horses' eyes. tears burn in my throat, surprising me. a smile plays on my lips. ten miles.
i feel like i'm living in a nightmare. when i see you and when i run though, that mask is lifted. i feel like me.
